When I was in university and spent long days and nights finishing projects and studying for exams, I kept trying coffee to see if it would keep me awake. But I didn’t like it. Bear in mind this was 2003-2004 and coffee was instant and there weren’t the amount of cafes and coffee shops as there are now. I’m not sure if Starbucks wasn’t even in Ireland by then. FYI they arrived in Dublin first in 2005. Anyway, I was trying to drink instant coffee and it wasn’t going well so I gave up. A few years later I had my first proper coffee, freshly ground coffee beans in a cappuccino and I was hooked. The smell, the taste, the comfort, it was perfect.
For me, the best coffee beans Ireland has to offer is most definitely Artessa. And I say that having tasted a lot of coffees all over the world not just in Ireland.
