Amber Cove | Dominincan Republic

Amber Cove | Puerto Plata Fri 22 Jan 2016

At the port of Amber Cove you walk out the terminal building and take a right….. a short few steps away is an awesome bar&restaurant with a pool and waterslide and a zip-line
Not too many of the ports are like this where you are within a 5 min walking distance back to ths ship. So alot of the crew picked that spot to hang out for the day.
Sunscreen on and away we go. Had a look around the shops in the port and picked up a magnet. (I have decided to get a magnet from each port).

From every port there is pilot boat that joins us entering and leaving the port. I took a sneaky video of the boat coming to collect their pilot off the ship when leaving Amber Cove.

Amber Cove

The Caribbean’s newest destination, Amber Cove Cruise Centre is located in the Dominican Republic on the Bay of Maimon near Puerto Plata in the country’s North Coast.  The new facility represents one of the largest cruise industry investments ever made in the Dominican Republic.  Amber Cove Cruise Centre is designed to re-establish the Dominican Republic’s North Coast as a popular cruise destination  The last cruise ship to call to Puerto Plata was nearly 30 years ago.

The city of Puerto Plata was first discovered by Christopher Coloumbus in one of the famous explorer’s trips to the Americas.  Puerto Plata is better known for its Atlantic coastline with more than 60 miles of beaches, coastal villages and hotels.  The beach towns of Sosua and Cabarete, are famous for its windsufing and kiteboarding, are less than half an hour away.  The popular Ocean World  Adventure Park is on the outskirts of the city, about 20 miles north of Amber Cove.  Damajaqua Fallis is just 30 minutes south.
